Today is Fresh Sewing Day over at Lynne’s. Lynne and Gayle are hosting a Hex-A-Long, loosely based on the Candied Hexagon Quilt. My quilt IS the Candied Hexagon pattern… and this month I made a dozen more blocks:
I’m planning to have this one constructed and quilted by Spring! (I’d say it’s about time, I first blogged about this quilt in June 2009!) But, in my defense, I only started cutting the quilt in June 2010! Every one of those hexagons is hand-pieced… so hand-quilting might be in order for this one…
I finished the top of my Art Gallery Spanish Tiles quilt, which is now quilted and will get bound this weekend:
and most exciting…my studio makeover is now complete! Recessed sewing table and new worktable projects are done! You can see the details here and here.

Doris, your hexies are just beautiful.
Oh my gosh, Doris! Treally, ruly, your hexagons are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. They make mine look like MUD. How well you chose your prints and colors. You definitely have a gift – “The Eye.” As for your sewing room, my husband has heard all about it, and probably is not thinking well of you at the moment. Love seeing what you've been up to.
Ok, I can't get your recessed table out of my head… I mentioned something to my hubs, and I think he'd be willing to do it, because he would get to buy a new power tool – a jig. The funny thing is that my current table is also an Ikea table, although it's entirely solid wood.
Your hexies are super fun – this will be a beautiful quilt.
Hi Doris,
I found you at Lynne's SBM. Your hexies are just fabulous! I also have a Horizon and luckily mine came with a table. However, I really need a better cutting table and yours' is really great. I may have to go on a cabinet hunt.
your hexalong blocks are in the cutest, sweetest colors. i just want to eat them up. way to go!
Your hexagon blocks are lovely and I am very jealous of your studio.
Haha, you and me (I?), Doris–sisters when it comes to reclaimed treasures. My very favorite furniture comes from “city clean-up” day, although Mark usually cringes when that times rolls around because he knows he will be working on some “project.” Your sewing room it super cool!
Loving those Candied Hexies!! Have been following this one for a while on your blog and am always pleased to see an update….they are looking brilliant!!
I'm seeing Spanish Tiles everywhere and it is such a fun pattern. Your fabric choice is great! Really shows them off.
Your sewing room looks great. That hexi quilt is going to be so amazing! I loved it at retreat and I'm loving it more and more as you post your blocks. Wow.
Hi Doris Beautiful candied hexagon blocks. I still haven't started mine yet, so I've come here for inspiration. I love your sewing room make over!
LOVE those blocks! The bubble gum colors are so yummy and the fussy cutting you did with some of those hexies is perfection.
Your blocks look amazing! I'm awestruck!
