And a little Pixie Dust…

Wow. I’ve done it again. Made a block to mail off that I like so much I don’t want to send it…. The last one was Tine’s Sew Connected 2 block. This one is being sent to Victoria in NYC for her Pixie Dust Gather charity quilt.

That is what I made last night. Love the lime green, and this is some great quality fabric. I’m also enjoying my birthday present that came in the big brown truck this week:

A new accessory for Pfannie the Pfaff. It’s a Dreamworld Sew Steady Table, 18″ x 24″ that gives me a large, level surface to hold what I’m sewing on while it moves through the presser feet. I can’t wait to try it while free-motion quilting!

Happy Sewing, friends!

Baby Love

Remember this cute little guy? I showed you a sneak peek right before Easter…

Well, he went to this sweet little guy…who normally has a very sunny disposition and a never ending smile…but he simply did not want to cooperate with a grin for the camera this morning.

He’s still adorable and makes my heart sing every time I see him! He has a few new cousins on the way, both little girls, so I made these this week…

A mongrammed onesie and flannel burp cloth to match!

Every girl needs some monogrammed goodness, right?! These were so easy to make and I know will be greatly appreciated by their non-sewing mommies!

Here is the beautiful quilt that Victoria made from the 9-patch blocks that I, and quilters from all over the globe made and contributed to the project… She called it “Nothing But Kisses” (get it? It’s all x’s!) Isn’t it gorgeous!? Do you want it? It is being auctioned off for a great charity, Love Without Boundaries. To visit the auction, click on the quilt!

Enjoy this beautiful day!

Finally, some time to sew…

This weekend I managed to get some projects finished up. I finished 12 flannel receiving blankets for the Christian Appalachia Project…

A great opportunity to use up some of the adorable juvenile flannels from my stash…

And I added a few finishing stitches to my Dragonfly Dreams baby quilt to send off with the receiving blankets…

It was even nice enough to photograph these outdoors this weekend!

The dragonflies aren’t just random…they were inspired by the dragonflies in the tan border strip which you can sort of see in this detail shot…

There have been a lot of healthy, happy, and fortunate babes born into my life in the last decade or so, a few of them had touch and go starts, and some serious health issues early on, but in the end they are all healthy and thriving. My nieces, nephews, and children of my friends are a joy and a treasure. For that I am grateful and will be sending this donation parcel off this week in their honor, with a truly thankful heart.

Needing to Give

I have been blessed. It is so true. Life is not perfect. That is so. But. I have never been homeless. I have never been truly hungry. I’ve always had clothing to keep me warm. I’ve always had clean bedding. And, even though I am experiencing some pains from the current economy, I still know where my next meal is coming from. I still have a door to unlock after I leave work tonight. I still have an office door to unlock again tomorrow morning. Many are not so fortunate. Many right here in my home country. I did a little something last week to support the Bushfire Appeal in Australia. I supported some other wonderful causes last year in Africa and South America. Sometimes, your heartstrings receive a little tug and you just know it’s right. You Need to Give.

Rachel posted last week about starting a project for teen mother’s in Appalachia, as a response to viewing, through tears, Diane Sawyer’s Hidden America broadcast. Rachel’s little project has blossomed into a wonderful response to a need for creature comforts…something as simple as a blanket for a baby. I’ve been looking for a deserving home for my little UFO gem I finished up a few months ago…

I now know in my heart, it was just waiting for the right time and place…
