Blogtoberfest–Oktberfest

It’s no secret around here that I love October and Halloween is my favorite holiday.  This year, I’m not only hosting my Halloween Party, but joining in on tinniegirl’s Blogtoberfest!  I’m going to attempt to blog daily in the month of October….

Tinniegirl Blogtoberfest 2011 So let’s get this party started!

Meet Hildy…

I made this sassy little gal last year, to hang at the shop, she is from the book Happy Haunters by the Wooden Bear.  She’s stylin’ in her striped stockings, gold laced shoes, and orange lace slip….
What every well dressed w—- spell-caster should be wearing…don’t you think?
The kit is not currently listed in the online store, but you can call the shop and order one, if you’re dying to make a sassy little w—- sorceress for yourself this month….  The book is full of fun projects; a candy corn apron, a tic-tac-toad game, table runners, etc….  The book can be ordered from Quilters Cupboard as well.
There is still time to get in on my Aurifil Giveaway!

What Did You Call Me?!?

I made this sassy little gal to hang at the shop, she is from the book Happy Haunters by the Wooden Bear.  The kits have been selling like hot cakes (although, I’ve never been certain how hot cakes sell…..)

Love the little details…including these “bead and button” spiders that make their appearance on more than one project in the book…

Dresses for Mama

I’ve made two of these sweet little wallhangings before, one lives at my friend Lisa’s house (she won in it our Guild auction!) and one lives in Australia. This one I finished up on Friday night, just in time to give to my Mom for Mother’s Day on Sunday…

It seems especially appropriate for her; my Mom grew up on an Iowa farm in the 40s and 50s, and she had three sisters. The first time I ever saw this quilt pattern , it made me think of my Mom and Grandma!

Raw-edge applique, a tiny stipple, and simple straight line quilting finished it off.
One more Spring to Finish complete! That makes SEVEN finishes so far! I’ve been sewing a little more too, but not much to show just yet…

Had a little time to get out and enjoy our chilly Spring this weekend (seriously, what happened to our warm weather? We went from 80 degrees to 34 degrees in two days!)

It hasn’t killed off all the May flowers…yet.

And these little robins seem to be well protected in their Mama’s nest, in the little spruce tree in my sister’s backyard.

But maybe just a tad bit hungry…

My two-year-old nephew is learning a lot about Mama birds, baby birds, and how important it is to not disturb the nest, from this Science lesson in his backyard.

Hope you are all seeing the signs of Spring in your corner of the world…

Progression

I’ve done a little sewing here and there, plugging away on my Spring to Finish goals! I finished these three Red Cross blocks for Jacquie, in the One Block Over Bee:
This is at least the second Bee she has asked people to make her these 6.5″ Red Cross blocks. What a great way to get variety! I think her quilt is going to be fabulous.

I worked quite a bit more on my Chrysanthemum Quilt, photos of a finished top to come soon!

And last night I started quilting this little gem (a UFO from last Summer!):Hoping to get a binding on it before week’s end.Are you getting any of your finishes done?
